    My spell check and grammar check language is not in English US, which is what I need. I have changed the language using the Review tab, from the System Preferences and Language icon, and from the bottom of the document. I click on yes to make English my default language, but when I try to use Spell Check, it reverts to Dutch or Italian.

    I'm using Word 2019 on Windows 10. I've repeatedly set my spell checking language to my desired language. I've tried set my preferred language in the "Office authoring language and proofing" settings and "Set proofing language" under the review tab, but every time I type something in my document it get reverted to US English.

    Workaround: In a new document based on the normal template (new blank document) press the Enter key once before you start typing. This should give you Italian. This is definitely a workaround, not the way you should have to work. Use the feedback mechanism in Word to send a frown. Please don't shoot the messenger!

    Since I'm working in PowerPoint in English, I want the spell-check to be in English. I've changed the default spell-check language (Language options → Set Proofing Lnaguage) to English, but it's still checking in Slovenian. I've also tried selecting all fields in the slide master and setting the language to English, but that doesn't work either.

    Select the whole document and then click Review tab | Language | Set Proofing Language. In the Language dialog box, clear the "Detect language automatically" option.
